SEC Lets Amazon Avoid Proxy Vote on Emission Reporting Plan

Amazon has obtained the SEC’s backing to shed its proxy ballot of an environmental investment firm’s shareholder proposal urging the company to disclose indirect greenhouse gas emissions from its value chain.

Green Century Capital Management Inc. is attempting to micromanage Amazon.com Inc. through its Scope 3 reporting proposal, allowing the e-commerce giant to scrap the resolution under Securities and Exchange Commission rules, agency staff said in an April 7 letter released Monday.
