The US Securities and Exchange Commission filed more than 780 enforcement actions, collecting $5 billion in judgments and orders in the government’s fiscal year 2023, the agency’s chair announced.
SEC Chair Gary Gensler previewed the agency’s annual enforcement results in prepared remarks Wednesday at the Securities Enforcement Forum in Washington, D.C. A report is expected to be released in the coming days.
The number of SEC enforcement actions is in line with 2022, when the agency brought 760 such actions. The SEC that year also collected a record $6.4 billion in penalties and disgorgement, up from $3.8 billion in 2021. ...
