Margaret “Meg” Ryan resigned from the top enforcement job at the US Securities and Exchange Commission, a key watchdog role she had held for just over six months.

Ryan sent a farewell message to agency employees on Monday, saying she had been privileged to work with SEC staffers on important cases that made a difference for the investing public and the markets.

She didn’t give a reason for her departure and said the resignation was effective immediately, according to the email seen by Bloomberg. Ryan was scheduled to headline a panel on SEC enforcement at a conference in Washington ...
