The SEC should require companies to publicly disclose workforce diversity, as the agency seeks to mandate more robust human capital reporting, Democratic SEC Commissioner Jaime Lizarraga said Wednesday.
Companies should disclose diversity information, as well as their policies on diversity, equity and inclusion, among other workforce facts, Lizarraga said. The Securities and Exchange Commission is working to propose new human capital disclosure rules as soon as this year.
“A diverse workforce allows for a robust exchange of viewpoints and perspectives that really inform the quality of a company’s products,” Lizarraga said at the Berkeley Fall Forum on Corporate Governance.
