Ripple Adds Ex-Mnuchin Aide as Crypto Firm Boosts D.C. Profile

Craig Phillips, who was a top aide to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin before stepping down in June, is joining Ripple Labs Inc. as the digital money transfer company boosts its Washington presence amid heightened scrutiny of virtual currencies.

A former Morgan Stanley and BlackRock Inc. executive, Phillips was announced as a board member Tuesday as Ripple said it was opening a D.C. office. He’s the latest in a series of prominent hires by the San Francisco-based company, which previously hired former Obama administration economic aide Gene Sperling as well as former top New York financial regulator Ben Lawsky. ...
