A defendant who allegedly raised $5 million from the fraudulent offer and sale of investment contracts will pay nearly $4 million after the SEC obtained a consent judgment ordering disgorgement equal to the amount he was ordered to pay in a parallel criminal case.
Charles Lawrence Jr. stood accused of soliciting investors to send money directly to an account he controlled named Landes Prive LLC, transferring at least $689,000 to five other parties who previously settled as relief defendants before Judge Pamela Pepper issued the judgment against Lawrence Monday.
