Pearson Shareholders Rebel Against Pay Policy With 46% Opposing

Pearson Plc shareholders pushed back against Chief Executive Officer Andy Bird’s $11 million pay packet with about 46% voting against the resolution.

All resolutions ultimately passed, though the board said it would note the “significant minority” of shareholders who rebelled against the remuneration policy and will “carefully consider all feedback,” according to a statement following the vote on Friday.

Shareholder advisory companies Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. and Glass Lewis & Co. LLC had both come out against the pay package, and ISS called the executive increases “excessive.” London-based Pearson, which gets most of its revenue from North America, had ...
