An online used-car retailer scored a legal victory when a federal court ruled that its message to a Craigslist seller didn’t violate a telemarketing law.
Car-selling platform Vroom Inc. complied with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, a federal law that restricts marketers from calling or texting consumers without their consent, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida ruled. Mark Edelsberg, the Craigslist seller who sued Vroom, gave his consent to receive messages when he included his cellphone number in the Craigslist post advertising his mother’s 2010 Toyota Prius, the court said in its March 27 opinion. ...
