N.Y. Hedge Fund Founder Pleads Guilty in Bribery Case

A hedge fund founder pleaded guilty to a criminal fraud charge tied to a $60,000 kickback to a then-union leader through the use of a fake invoice for New York Knicks tickets, federal prosecutors said May 25.

Platinum Partners LP founder Murray Huberfeld, of Lawrence, N.Y., made his plea in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York before Judge Alvin Hellerstein.

Huberfeld used the fraudulent invoice for courtside basketball tickets in connection with a bribe paid to Norman Seabrook, who led the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association, the largest municipal correction officers union in the U.S., prosecutors ...
