Meta Hit With Shareholder Lawsuit Over Child Safety Claims

Meta Platforms Inc. and CEO Mark Zuckerberg were sued by an investor who alleges the company’s annual proxy statement misleads shareholders about its child safety practices.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California by Meta shareholder Matt Eisner, alleges Meta isn’t taking adequate steps to protect children on its social media platforms, despite representing that it has effective controls in place.

Eisner is asking a judge to block the tech giant’s annual shareholder meeting until its proxy statement is amended. The meeting is scheduled for late May.
