Investor Sues Trinseo Over Chemical Plant Safety Disclosures

Latex manufacturer Trinseo PLC misled investors by failing to disclose the safety record of the chemical manufacturing plant it acquired in Pennsylvania, a federal lawsuit says.

Jonnie Helfrich says she held shares in Trinseo that decreased by 5.2% in March when news broke that one of Trinseo’s factories in Bristol, Pa., leaked latex polymer into Philadelphia’s drinking water. She alleged the company was aware of safety issues at the Bristol Factory prior to acquisition but failed to inform its investors, according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania,.
