The US audit regulator will continue under interim leadership for at least a few more weeks while the SEC finalizes new appointments, an agency official said Monday.
The 43-day federal government shutdown earlier this fall delayed efforts to review contenders to fill the five seats on the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, said Kurt Hohl, chief accountant to the Securities and Exchange Commission. He spoke at an American Institute of CPAs conference in Washington.
Hohl said he expects the commission will be able to announce appointees by the end of the month or early next year.
