FirstEnergy Investors Ask for Class Status in Ohio Bribery Case

FirstEnergy Corp. investors who say the company misled them about its role in a state legislative bribery scandal asked a federal judge in Ohio for permission to pursue their securities fraud claims as a class.

Investors accuse the energy company of misleading them about a nuclear plant subsidy bribery scandal involving Ohio’s state Legislature. The case is “ideally suited for class treatment,” the investors told the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in a memo filed as part of their certification bid.
