FINRA to Assume NYSER Regulatory Duties; Move Will Enhance Oversight, Officials Say

NYSE Euronext and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority May 4 announced that by the end of June, FINRA will take over New York Stock Exchange Regulation’s market surveillance and oversight functions.

Under the agreement announced by the parties, FINRA will assume the regulatory functions for NYSE Euronext’s equities and options markets in the United States—specifically, NYSE, NYSE Arca, and NYSE Amex. The agreement is expected to be finalized in coming weeks, and should take effect at or before the end of June, the parties said in a joint release.
