Ex-UBS Compliance Officer Loses Appeal of Insider Conviction (2)

A former UBS Group AG compliance officer and a day trader lost a bid to overturn their conviction for insider trading in a major boost for the U.K. financial regulator.

A panel of appellate judges said that Fabiana Abdel-Malek and Walid Choucair’s trial wasn’t affected by the Financial Conduct Authority’s investigation of other possible sources of information for the deal tips at the heart of the case. There was “no irregularity or unfairness” at the trial, the judges said in a ruling Wednesday.
