Ex-CFTC Official Quintenz Joins Prediction Market Kalshi’s Board

Kalshi Inc., a firm that lets investors wager on everything from when President Joe Biden will announce his pick to lead the Federal Reserve to New York City weather, has added a former top U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission official to its board.

Kalshi announced the appointment of former Republican CFTC Commissioner Brian Quintenz in a Tuesday statement. The firm won the regulator’s approval a year ago to offer derivatives contracts tied to events. As of Monday afternoon, traders could use the exchange to bet on whether dozens of different outcomes would occur by specific dates.
