Ebix, Target of Short-Sellers, Clears Long-Running SEC Probe

Ebix Inc. appears to have put its legal and regulatory troubles behind it after five years of scrutiny by the Justice Department, the IRS and securities regulators.

The software company disclosed in a filing the week of Feb. 27 that an investigation into its accounting practices launched in 2012 by the Securities and Exchange Commission was closed a month ago. The company’s latest filing dropped mention of a parallel investigation opened in 2013 by the U.S. Attorney in Atlanta, which Ebix had been disclosing for the past several years.
