A disbarred Utah attorney secured a $1.5 million loan by concealing his prior felony securities conviction and his connection to the recipient company, a lawsuit said.

David Rees acted as the introducing party, but he, his girlfriend Melissa Handley, and business affiliate David Fair shielded Rees’ criminal record and involvement in recipient Third Bench Inc. and subsidiary Third Bench Holdings LLC, plaintiffs J.P. Carey Limited Partners LP and Trillium Partners LP told the US District Court for the District of New Mexico.
