Chinese Semiconductor Maker Challenges Military Designation

GOWIN Semiconductor Corp. challenges its designation by the outgoing Trump administration as a “Communist Chinese military company” in a federal lawsuit filed Friday in Washington, arguing the move was unfounded and punitive.

On Jan. 14, the integrated circuit manufacturer was designated as a “Communist Chinese military company” under Section 1237 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1999.
