CFTC Allows CME Clearing Europe To Register as Clearing Organization

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission Sept. 6 granted CME Clearing Europe Ltd. registration as a derivatives clearing organization.

In a statement that day, the CFTC described CME Clearing Europe as a private limited company organized under the laws of England and Wales. Per the order, CME Clearing Europe will be authorized to clear swaps on energy, agricultural, freight, and metals products executed either bilaterally or on or through a swap execution facility.

CME Clearing Europe Ltd. also may clear forward contracts on energy, agricultural, freight and metals products, the CFTC said.
