Argentina Exchanges Look Toward Merger After Trading Plummets

Argentina’s financial exchanges are in the early stages of merger talks as the country’s economic crisis saps trading volume in a fragmented market.

Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos SA, the nation’s largest trading platform, is leading the incipient effort to combine forces with its three closest rivals, Matba-Rofex SA, Mercado Abierto Electronico SA and Mercado Argentino de Valores SA. Discussions have begun about working together to ensure survival, BYMA President Ernesto Allaria said in an interview.
