Nashville-based hospital system Ardent Health received initial court approval for a $475,000 class settlement aimed at resolving a 17,000-person class action by workers challenging their retirement plan’s fees and investment options.
The deal, which is slated to cover plan participants and beneficiaries since December 2013, represents between 26% and 33% of the workers’ “best-case” estimated damages, according to court filings. Judge William L. Campbell Jr. granted preliminary approval to the deal and scheduled an Aug. 13 final approval hearing in an order issued Tuesday in the US District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.
