American Express Co. shareholders rejected a proposal on Tuesday calling on the bank to report on possible risks from law enforcement requests for information on consumer abortions.
The proposal, brought by Change Finance, raises concerns about law enforcement seeking sensitive personal information like geolocation data, browsing history and financial activity. “There is reason for concern that such data will be accessed without consumer consent by states that criminalize abortion,” the proposal said.
At the meeting, American Express said the proposal did not receive majority support.
