The percentage of private industry workers injured on the job in 2018 was unchanged from 2017, according to a new survey from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The occupational injury and illness rate for 2018 was 2.8 cases for every 100 full-time equivalent workers, the same as the previous year, the bureau said.
The estimated number of work-related injuries and illness among private-sector workers in 2018—2.81 million—also was the same as in 2017.
The 2018 rate continues a trend dating back to at least 2003, when the rate was 5.0, in which the rate either declined or stayed the same. ...
