Vaccine Rule Looms as Worker Safety Advocate Takes OSHA’s Helm

Doug Parker was sworn in Wednesday as the head of OSHA, the federal workplace safety agency that is preparing to issue a Covid-19 emergency temporary standard mandating employee vaccination or weekly testing.

He arrives as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration also decides what to do when a health-care industry specific Covid-19 temporary standard expires in December.

Parker, an attorney, is coming back to the U.S. Labor Department where he served as the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s deputy assistant secretary for policy and a policy adviser from 2009 through 2015.
