Worker Crushed to Death Leads to $170,000 Fine for Dematic Ltd.

Dematic Ltd., a supply chain automation company, will have to pay C$218,750 ($170,350) in safety and health fines after a worker was crushed to death in its Ontario warehouse.

The Ontario Court of Justice assessed the fine March 8 after the worker was killed while installing a conveyor system at a warehouse being built in Brampton, Ontario, in August 2016, the provincial Ministry of Labour said.

The fine included a 25 percent victim fine surcharge.
