White House Proposes Level Funding for Worker Safety Agencies

Spending by the federal government’s largest worker safety agencies in fiscal year 2021 would be largely unchanged from 2020, according to the budget proposed Monday by the Trump administration.

However, the administration for the fourth year in a row seeks to shut down the Chemical Safety and Accident Investigation Board. It also proposed reducing research and education efforts at National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

Under the White House budget proposal, the largest safety agency, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, would receive $576.8 million, about $5 million less than Congress approved for 2020.
