Wegmans Food Markets Inc., a regional grocery chain headquartered in New York, faces a new round of safety citations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
On Sept. 10, OSHA announced penalties against Wegmans totaling $188,200 for three alleged repeat and two alleged serious violations at a store in Rochester, N.Y.
Prompting inspections were two injury cases. In March a bakery worker’s fingertip was amputated while cleaning a conveyor belt and in April a mechanic suffered a first-degree wrist burn from the release of pressurized steam while he tried to repair a valve.
