Union officials and other non-employees would be allowed to accompany federal safety inspectors under a proposed OSHA rule released Tuesday.
The proposal (RIN:1218-AD45) could essentially reinstate an Obama-era policy that the Occupational Safety and Health Administation adopted in 2013, but was rejected by a federal judge in 2017 and later withdrawn by the Trump administration that year.
It’s the latest example of the Biden administration’s push to support organized labor in the workplace, and has already drawn pushback from business groups.
