UHS Hospital Found to Have Broken OSHA Workplace Violence Law

A federal workplace violence citation against a Universal Health Service Inc. hospital in Denver has been upheld by an administrative law judge.

The decision marks the second time the citation and $11,934 fine against UHS of Denver Inc. in Littleton, Colo., was sustained by a judge with the the US Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, which hears appeals of OSHA cases.

At issue in this second review was whether the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration had shown that its recommended changes to prevent patient attacks at the mental health hospital were affordable.
