Teenage Mar-Jac Poultry Worker’s Death Leads to OSHA Penalty (1)

Mar-Jac MS LLC is facing federal health and safety citations and a $212,646 proposed fine in response to the July death of a 16-year-old Mississippi poultry plant worker, OSHA announced Tuesday.

Duvan Tomas Perez, an immigrant from Guatemala, died July 14 on an evening shift at Mar-Jac’s Hattiesburg, Miss., plant after he became entangled in a conveyor belt he was cleaning, according to the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
