Spirit Aerosystems Fined $194,000 Over Safety Violations

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. was fined $194,000 for allegedly exposing workers to nearly twice the permissible limit of hexavalent chromium, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Jan. 31.

The aircraft maker, based in Wichita, Kan., faces citations for one willful and five serious violations of OSHA safety regulations. In a statement, Spirit said it “disputes the accuracy” of some of OSHA’s findings.
