Small-Construction, Bakeries Exempt From OSHA Safety Inspections

Small-construction contractors are among those benefiting from OSHA’s new list of industries exempted from federal programmed safety inspections.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration late Tuesday released the updated list of industries that qualify for exemptions from agency safety inspections—employers with 10 or fewer workers if the employer is in an industry with a serious injury and illness rate below the national average for all employers. The new list is based on data for 2020 calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
