Six Companies to Pay $47 Million Over Deadly Boiler Explosion

Clayton Industries and some five other companies facing lawsuits over a deadly boiler explosion in St. Louis will pay $47 million to settle the lawsuits.

The incident took place April 3, 2017, when a 3,000 pound boiler exploded at a packaging plant in St. Louis, sending it 500 feet into the air before it plunged through the roof of a neighboring business.

One worker was killed and two were injured at the Loy-Lange Box Co. facility where the explosion occurred. Three more people were killed and one injured where the boiler came down.
