Roofing Company Principal Arrested Following Employee Fatality

The founder and principal of a New York roofing company was criminally charged with one count of willfully violating Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, which resulted in the death of an employee in New Square, N.Y., according to the Justice Department Tuesday.

Jose Lema, founder of ALJ Home Improvement Inc., allegedly failed to ensure employees wore fall protection systems, which led one worker to a fatal fall off of a roof of a building under construction in New Square, N.Y.

If convicted, Lema faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, ...
