Proposed OSHA Heat Stress Rule Not Likely Until at Least 2023

OSHA’s heat stress protection standard will come out next year at the earliest, the agency’s director of standards, Andrew Levinson, said.

The agency continues to analyze the public comments it received earlier this year, Levinson told the National Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health Tuesday.

The next rulemaking milestone is conducting meetings with small business owners and representatives to gauge their opinions on the rule’s options, Levinson said. The Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act requires the agency to undertake that review (RIN:1218-AD39).
