Pipeline Operator Alyeska Faces $404,000 in Safety Fines (1)

Two companies involved with oil production at Alaska’s Port of Valdez face more than $562,000 in proposed worker safety fines from the Alaska Occupational Safety and Health Section, part of the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. of Anchorage, operator of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, was cited for 31 alleged serious violations, most involving not following worker safety rules—or process safety management—for operating petrochemical facilities. Proposed fines totaled $404,602.
