OSHA Touts $1.2 Million in Virus-Related Fines for 85 Businesses

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined 85 businesses a grand total of $1.2 million for coronavirus-related violations since the onset of the pandemic, the agency said in a press statement.

The fines average out to about $14,378 per establishment, with the biggest penalty being $28,070 and the smallest, $0. As employers routinely contest the citations, those fines could be reduced on appeal by the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
