The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed a rulemaking to approve an occupational safety and health plan for Massachusetts state and local employers and their employees, according to the Department of Labor on Wednesday.

The plan would cover around 6,500 public sector employers and nearly 434,000 public employees state-wide, according to the department.

The proposed rule will have a 30-day comment period, and comments and requests for a hearing must be submitted by Aug. 1, DOL said.
