OSHA Issues Virus-Related Safety Fines to Two Health-Care Firms

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited two New Jersey health-care providers for exposing workers to respiratory hazards during the pandemic.

Hackensack Meridian Health Residential Care Inc. was issued $28,070 in fines for failing to protect employees from exposure to the coronavirus at its North Bergen facility. One of the citations is for a serious violation in which the company allegedly failed to provide respirator masks to resident-care employees in March 2020, when they were caring for residents who were exhibiting symptoms consistent with Covid-19.
