The number of OSHA inspectors grew 19% in fiscal year 2022, ending several years of minimal growth or losses, according to agency data.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration ended fiscal 2022 with 892 inspectors, up from 750 at the close of fiscal 2021, the lowest ever for the 51-year-old agency.
The number of OSHA whistleblower investigators also grew—up from 83 in fiscal 2021 to 114 for fiscal 2022, a 37% increase.
