OSHA Fines Pesticide Maker $90,000 for Poor Storage, Safety

A Georgia pesticides manufacturer was cited by federal safety regulators for allegedly exposing workers to amputation, fire, and electrical hazards in July 2019.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Kittrich Corp., doing business as Avenger Products LLC, for not following lockout/tagout safety procedures during maintenance to prevent machines from unexpectedly starting and exposing workers to electrical hazards by not labeling breakers and electrical panels.

The company was issued a repeat citation, in five parts, for improperly storing flammable chemicals and failing to select proper hand protection for workers who were handling hazardous chemicals at its Gainesville, Ga., facility.
