OSHA Fines Florida Roofing Contractor After Worker’s Fatal Fall

OSHA has issued $84,379 in proposed penalties and citations to a roofing contractor in Florida alleging one willful and two serious violations after a worker died from injuries sustained from a 40-foot fall onto concrete, the Labor Department said Friday.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors found Miami Gardens-based Sealed Tight Roofing didn’t provide fall protection or personal fall arrest systems, didn’t install covers or guardrail systems around holes in the roof, and didn’t ensure certain working surfaces could safely support the workers.
