Houston-area manufacturer Air Starter Components Inc. has been issued $298,250 in total proposed penalties as part of a follow-up workplace safety investigation, the Labor Department said Thursday.
The company allegedly failed to correct safety hazards that caused an employee’s finger amputation. Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors found the company committed violations such as not adjusting bench grinders properly or posting 2022 OSHA injury and illness logs as required, according to the department.
Air Starter Components was issued citations alleging two repeat violations and 14 serious violations.
