Butterball LLC is the latest meatpacking firm to face OSHA safety fines for its alleged failure to keep workers safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The turkey processor’s Carthage, Mo., location was fined $9,639 for virus-related hazards, according to an Occupational Safety and Health Administration news release. OSHA opened its probe on July 10 after the death of a Butterball worker, according to the agency’s website.
That fine was among 16 reported by the safety regulator in its final 2020 round-up of penalties imposed on U.S. businesses for failures to adequately shield workers during the coronavirus pandemic that has ...
