Oil Industry Servicer Settles Fatality Case, Sees Fine Cut 91%

An oil industry service company saw its fine slashed by 91% and its 13 alleged violations reduced to just one after resolving an OSHA double-fatality inspection case.

The settlement between Petroplex Pipe and Construction Co., based in Midland, Texas, and the US Department of Labor was announced Monday by the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, which had been considering the company’s appeal. The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration in August 2019 initially cited Petroplex for 13 violations and proposed a $131,274 fine.
