Norfolk Southern Agrees to Safety Updates After East Palestine

Norfolk Southern Corp. has entered into a settlement agreement with OSHA and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division-International Brotherhood of Teamsters following February’s East Palestine derailment disaster, the Labor Department said Wednesday.

After a 49 rail car pile-up that led to the ignition and burn of hazardous chemicals for several days, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Norfolk Southern with four violations and proposed $49,111 in penalties.
