NIOSH Seeks Expansion of Workplace Violence Study

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health wants to add nursing homes and home health care aides to its ongoing examination of a New Jersey law to prevent workplace violence in health care facilities, the institute announced in a Nov. 27 Federal Register notice (77 Fed. Reg. 70,781).

New Jersey is one of six states with laws designed to reduce workplace violence in the health care industry. NIOSH already is collecting data at hospitals and among nurses to determine how effective the law is in reducing violence against health care workers. The institute now is seeking ...
