The fatal crushing of a mechanic under a vehicle at a Los Angeles business is under investigation by California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health, an official confirmed Jan. 2.
The worker was employed by International Auto Auction Inc. and working out of the company’s North Hollywood location when the incident occurred Dec. 31. He has been identified as 63-year-old Bruce Runyon, according to officials from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.
There’s “no history of Cal/OSHA inspections with this employer,” said Frank Polizzi, spokesman for the Department of Industrial Relations, which operates the state safety agency.
