Manitowoc Co.'s Triple-Fatality Crane Collapse Triggers $15K Fine

The fatal collapse of a prototype crane at a testing site has resulted in OSHA citations against a subsidiary of Milwaukee-based crane manufacturer The Manitowoc Co., the agency announced Aug. 6.

Three workers died Feb. 2 while trying to escape from the Shady Grove, Pa., test site as the mobile crane’s 276-foot-long lattice boom and jib fell in winds reaching 40 mph, according to the Occupational and Safety Health Administration.
